Nicky Delgado’s a poet, playwright, author. Afric Cymric Rhythmic Poet. Born in Butetown, Cardiff and of Cape Verdian parentage and African/Portuguese/ Arabic ancestry. Nicky is rooted in Wales. He is a freelance consultant for community, cultural & artistic projects/events and has 25 years of experience in initiation and development.

His storytelling roots are many. World wide sailors tales at his families boarding house. People of fifty nations in Europes first culturally diverse area (Butetown Cardiff circa 1800. "Gentlemen of the Road" lives on the disused canal behind his home - telling stories while making soup from vegetables he liberated from distant allotments. Pre school age learning to read from American GI servicemen comic books. Early teens running away to travel Europe and North Africa.

Self written Worldwide Welsh and African stories - Rythm poetry – Cultural fusion - Black generic history - Black Welsh History. While his "One Mankind" exhibition (& workshop) highlites factual evidence of mankinds migration from Africa. Proof already existing in countless countries across the globe.

His third play "Here I Am" a musical of multicultural heritage enacted by over 50 chilren aged four to fourteen. While a recent commission led to four epic poems commem- orating the abolition of slavery through to current people trafficking. Taking strength from his Cape Verde African heritage plus Arabic, various European and Welsh birthplace. He is currently gathering material from children in Wales for a book of their stories,poems and artwork.

A commissioning writer of musicials, plays, comedy, sketches and lyrics, he has made varied radio and television appearances on issues such as cultural diversity and arts and education. Nicky has contributed to various arts and cultural magazines in the UK. A cultural & community worker for 30 years returning to Cardiff to repay his roots of gratitude. Currently developing a database of diverse cultural artists for the Arts Council of Wales. He often works freelance and is featured on the BBC website access at:-
