Two O'clock: An exhibition of work by French-Congolese
portrait photographer Carole
Saambili.
Carole Saambili lived in Brixton from 1996 until she died tragically
and unexpect-
edly in May this year at the age of 34.
Focussing her work on her passions of music, fashion and travel,
Carole
brought intimacy and insight into her photography, as she did into
her
relationships with everyone she worked alongside.
Her debut solo exhibition '15 Women I Know' in 2002 led Carole to
a residency
in Los Angeles in October 2003. She then travelled through South
America
and from there to Cameroon to begin work on her first feature film.

This exhibition is a loving tribute to her talent and to her vibrant
visual legacy. It features a collection of Carole's photos selected
by friends, accompanied by tributes from people who worked with and
were photographed by Carole including Brian Eno, Weird MC, Rita Ray,
Usifu Jalloh, Nikki Lucas, Felix Buxton, Tony Allen, Adura Onashile,
Roachford and Nana Tsiboe |
