Sharron McLeod

TORONTO - March 2001 - Local jazz diva, Sharron McLeod, will be hosting a new jazz program on Canada's first urban music radio station, FLOW 93.5. This will be a two-hour, weekly show on Sundays, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. entitled Epistrophe. The first program kicked off on Sunday, March 18, 2001, featuring local jazz legends.

The show features interviews with Canadian and international jazz artists, connoisseurs, and showcase picks of the week and month, as well as McLeod's special spin on the music. The program also offers music of the new generation of jazz musicians incorporating hip hop, R&B and other diasporic sensibilities within their expressions.

Sharron McLeod is a key figure in the Toronto jazz community, and has been a jazz programmer for Toronto’s community radio station, CKLN. McLeod's experience in programming and production of events in Toronto has led to her being invited to moderate panel discussions and consult with other producers and programmers such as Harbourfront Centre, the Toronto Downtown Jazz Society and the Jazz Alliance of Canada. McLeod's musicality is described as progressive and impressionistic and she has the ability to interpret the standard
repertoire in a fresh new way.

Newcomers to the world of jazz and the already experienced listener will find McLeod's programming a unique listening experience.
