Debbie
Golt is
a cultural activist who wears many hats. Whether as writer, dj or
artist manager, Debbie remains committed to profiling the international
sounds of contemporary and traditional performers from around the
globe. With her company outerglobe, DJ Debbie presents her
legendary vibes show on www.gaialive.co.uk
every other Saturday. Debbie plays at a wide range of UK venues such
as the Spitz, 100 Club, Scala and Undersolo. A former Chair of Women
in Music, the national organisation that profiles women's achievements
in all areas of music, Debbie writes for WiM's bi-monthly Women in
Music Now magazine. She is also an advisor for Modal, the networking
and conference organisation for music beyond the mainstream.
Over the years she has assisted many artists and currently manages
MoMo - Music of Moroccan Origin. Other groups Debbie is working with
include the magical Moroccan Nagadif Gnawa and phenomenal African
UK hip hop artist Weird MC. An arts officer (p/t) for a London Local
Authority, Debbie also writes for a range of publications such as
Straight No Chaser, Avant and Black Filmmaker Magazine, especially
on women musicians.
